SMART     THERMOSTAT

A smart thermostat is accurate and programmable. By setting it to manufactures' energy-saving tips, you can more accurately narrow in on the correct temperature to save you money on energy bills. For example the Nest T-stat predicts you will save 10-12% on heating costs and 15% on cooling costs. Ecobee says you’ll save around 23% on both heating and cooling. Other smart home thermostats have similar projections.

REPLACE    FILTER

Over time, HVAC air filters  collect dust and debris, and eventually restrict air flow. When air flow is interrupted, your AC unit will strain to keep your home cool, and that will make it use more energy. Do not wait for your air filters to become clogged. Cleaning and changing them every 3-6 MONTHS should keep the air flowing smoothly through your unit.

CHECK    AIR    BALANCE

Static pressure is a crucial aspect of AIR BALANCE. It’s defined as the resistance to airflow in ductwork or other components. A high level of static pressure indicates a problem with your HVAC equipment. It’s important to identify this problem sometimes just adding an additional return grille solves the problem. This will allow your system to last longer and perform better.

SCHEDULED     MAINTENANCE

Your AC unit will always need regular maintenance, make it more efficient by having our qualified technician perform the task once a year. The technician will ensure that all its essential parts are clean, all drains are clear, and its refrigerant levels are just right, etc.  All these checkpoints make your system work more efficiently, leading to lower energy use and reduced energy bills.

REPLACE    A/C     UNIT

An AC unit that is more than 10 years old will probably require major repairs now and then. An air conditioner that is frequently repaired is likely to become less efficient over time. SAVE MONEY replace it with an ENERGY STAR unit. It can save you up to 50% with an 18 S.E.E.R condensor.

SIZE     DOES    NOT    FIT    ALL

HVAC Techs are taught a general rule that for every 600 sqft. 1 ton of AC capacity is needed. Recently this has been frown upon, because size of room is not the only factor. Got lots of windows, or maybe thin walls as in manufactured homes? Then that measurement will disappoint you when temperatures climb above 80 degrees. There are other factors like ceiling height, insulation, sun exposure and occupancy body heat. Call us and we can help you determine the right AC size for your home or building.
